Modesto City Council Approves Salary Increases and Considers Full-Time Positions

The Modesto City Council has unanimously approved a 6.2% salary increase for the mayor and council members, following a recommendation from the Citizen’s Salary Setting Commission. If finalized in a mid-May public hearing, the mayor’s annual salary will rise from $54,000 to $57,348, while council members’ salaries will increase from $30,000 to $31,860 per year.

In addition to the salary adjustments, the council is exploring the possibility of transitioning their positions to full-time roles. This consideration aims to enhance the effectiveness and commitment of council members in addressing the city’s needs.

These developments reflect the council’s ongoing efforts to adapt to the evolving demands of city governance and to ensure that compensation aligns with the responsibilities of their roles.
